Columbiana High School was recently ranked #92 out of 892 high schools
in the state and #1655 in the Nation by U.S. News & World Reports.
Along with this ranking, CHS received the silver medal based on state
proficiency standards and how well they prepare students for college.

Congratulations to our CHS Academic Challenge Team

The Columbiana High School Academic Challenge team has had a
busy and successful year. Varsity finished the regular quiz bowl
season with a 12 - 2 record. CHS ranks second in our division.
The JV team shows great potential with a 10 - 4 record.

On March 9th, CHS won 4th place at the Mahoning County Quiz
Bowl Tournament. At the awards ceremony, CHS won for most
correct history toss up questions in the Mahoning County league.
We also had the second highest number of correct toss up
questions overall in the league. Dylan Edwards made Mahoning
County Quiz Bowl First Team. Dylan is ranked #5 in the league.
Clayton Cooper also won an individual award for making
Mahoning County Second Team.

On March 16th, CHS defeated 8 of 9 teams and took First Place at
the Columbiana County Academic Challenge Tournament. This is
the first time since 1989 that CHS has held this title. The team will
now advance to the Northeast Ohio Regional Academic Challenge
Tournament in Lodi, Ohio on April 20th.

The team's performance and dedication has truly been exceptional.
We may even earn a wildcard spot at Nationals in Atlanta. We are
so proud of these CHS students.

During the October 11, 2011 Board of Education meeting, the last netbook was distributed to
Emily Witmer (our last Freshman alphabetically).
This ceremony completed the objective of offering every Columbiana High School student a netbook.
