We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have supported the Columbiana Community Foundation. The donations and bequests we receive enable us to support a wide array of worthwhile projects in the Columbiana area. We hope you will take a look at our new web site to see how your contributions benefit Columbiana and the surrounding area. We look forward to your continued support.

This past year was very outstanding in terms of new contributions and bequests which totaled $367,147.27. This raised the Foundations’ assets to $922,558.23. The grants for were $12,940.00 which left us with $30,770.22 in undistributed income.

Although the Trustees only meet quarterly, countless hours were devoted to the Foundation by Trustees in committee meetings and many individual efforts to improve and promote the Foundation. This year the Finance Committee spent many hours in selecting a trust company to manage our assets. Sky Bank Trust was chosen to manage the general assets of the Foundation. Much time and effort was spent developing an Investment Policy Statement which will help safeguard the Foundation’s assets while at the same time give us the opportunity to achieve a reasonable rate of return. Although Sky Bank Trust was chosen to manage our general funds we want to make it clear that anyone who has a relationship with another financial institution may designate that institution to manage their assets and designate the Columbiana Community Foundation as the recipient of the income generated.

Our Community Foundation is a tax exempt, independent supported philanthropic organization, formed and operated as a flexible, yet permanent collection of endowed funds for the long term benefit of a defined geographic area. A one time gift of $100 to the Columbiana Community Foundation entitles the donor to a life long membership. At year-end 2003 our membership was 150.
