The Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest challenges high school students to develop and deliver a 5–7 minute speech that analyzes a chosen topic through the lens of Rotary International’s Four-Way Test. Created in 1932, the Four-Way Test promotes ethical decision-making, integrity, and responsible leadership. The contest encourages students to think critically, speak persuasively, and apply ethical reasoning to real-world issues. Participants select a topic they find meaningful, relevant, or timely and evaluate it using the Four-Way Test’s guiding questions: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Through this process, students demonstrate their understanding of ethical standards while strengthening their public speaking skills.
Congratulations to our Columbiana High School four-way speech winners!
