Dixon: Good afternoon, if you are picking your child up as a car rider, please consider using Stanton to enter vs. W. Salem. I would like to request the same during morning drop-off. This will allow for a better traffic pattern and flow while Columbia Gas is working out front of the building. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

It is with deep sadness that we reflect on the passing of Mr. Dan Bekar, a cherished teacher, friend and mentor to many within our Columbiana School family and Columbiana Community. A true Clipper at heart, he played a significant role in shaping the lives of countless students. Mr. Bekar's commitment to education and community extended beyond the classroom, as evidenced by his roles as a dedicated teacher, coach, and Columbiana City Councilman. His impact reached multiple generations of the Columbiana community, whether imparting knowledge in the classroom, guiding students through physical education and wood shop, coaching student-athletes or volunteering in countless community organizations. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the Bekar family.

Please keep the Tuscarawas Valley Local School District in your thoughts and prayers. Today, Tuscarawas Valley students were on board a charter bus headed to Columbus to perform for the Ohio School Boards Association conference when it was involved in a very serious accident. At lease six individuals have lost their lives and another 18 have been injured. Our hearts go out the Tuscararwas community.

One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote… Thank you to State Rep. Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana County) for taking the time to visit Joshua Dixon Elementary for National Children’s Book Week. Rep. Blasdel read a Dr. Seuss book explaining the voting process to 4th grade students. Students have been studying the branches of government and their function. This week, students will be having in-class elections to serve on the Principal’s Advisory Committee. Students had an opportunity to ask Rep. Blasdel questions about the legislative branch and how to write, debate, and pass bills into law. Students did an amazing job! Thank you again, Representative Blasdel.

Dixon Transportation Correction: It's bus #13. Not bus # 9 that is running late today.

Dixon Transportation Correction: It's bus #13. Good morning! Bus #13 may be running up to 30 mins late this morning. To avoid this, your Bus #13 child may be picked up by an alternative bus #. If able, parents/guardians can also bring their Bus #13 student(s) to school today instead of waiting on the bus. Bus 13 students will not be marked tardy today. Thank you!

Dixon: Good morning Dixon families! This is a reminder that we will be having our annual Fall Fun Day tomorrow, Oct. 27, beginning at 2pm with the parade of costumes. At this time, the weather looks great for an outside parade along North Middle St. in front of the school. Please make sure your child's costume is in a bag, labeled with his/her name. Please do not send props like guns, swords, etc. with costumes. This includes no masks that are extraordinarily gory. Your child should be able to independently put on, over their clothes, and take off their costume. Following the parade, all students will be returning to their classrooms as PTO will be providing a treat for students to enjoy. Parents and relatives are invited to join us for the parade outdoors. Since PTO is providing the treat, there is no need for parents/relatives to enter the building. Dismissal will be as normal. We're looking forward to a fun afternoon.
